Good evening,
After viewing an item on the website lowes.com, I travelled to Lowes in Pickering to see if a similar item was available there. Fortunately, it was.
Unfortunately, the price markup was ridiculous.
The item is the Hunter Regalia Brushed Nickel 60 inch ceiling fan. The lowes.com price is $159, and your Canadian in-store price is $228. This is a $69, 43.4% markup.
While I understand that operating a retail network in Canada is more expensive for various reasons, I fail to see or imagine any reason that would lead to that kind of markup. I want to shop in Canada and locally; however, at that kind of markup rate I cannot fathom buying the fan, even though it's the one that both I and my wife would like to install in our kitchen.
Is there anything that can be done about the price of this item in Canada for me?
Thanks,
WM
Let's see if I get any kind of action about this - I get some markup, but 43%????

Did you actually talk to them at the store? I've had nothing but GREAT success at Lowes. The retail store here price matched a "similar item" that I found lower at HomeDepot.ca and the Lowes version was better!
