Musings from the Mancave

Well, I'm down in the mancave, 8th inning of the Jays game, I've got Tweetdeck humming, which I have to admit is a fabulously more interactive way to watch, and comment on a baseball game than I've ever experienced before in my life. Don't get me wrong - I love my girls, and I wouldn't trade them for anything - but I love baseball too, and I'd love to be able to watch the games and discuss the goings on during them. With Twitter, I can actually do that.

Everyone is asleep upstairs, except Cora, who likes the baseball experience asleep at my feet. I was out at Wilner's last night playing my April series, which I shall never mention again, and didn't get home until about 1 am. Now, since I virtually never go out except for squash these days, I kind of forgot that Gabi tends to stay awake until I get home. So I never in a million years expected to be awakened by the sounds of Gabi and Maya...downstairs before the crack of dawn, watching the royal wedding. I mean, c'mon - what do we have a PVR for?

So needless to say, EVERYONE was really cranky tonight. I include myself in this - on the plus side, everyone was also asleep really early, excepting myself, obviously.

Proud of myself today - after everyone was asleep, I had a huge stack of kids DVDs to return to Markville, so I went in and decided to browse around a bit.

The item that appealed to me the most? A bag of Doritos...

I fled, made a bag of Orville's 100-calorie popcorn, and shared some of it with the dog.

Of course, an hour later, I'm thinking I might make another bag.

Not too thrilled - to combat some soreness, I spent a couple of weeks taking Aleve, then weaned myself off it.

The weaning lasted three days - everything except the left elbow pain came back. Left foot, right shoulder, and left knee. I know I'm getting older and maybe crashing around the squash court is a bit nuts, but I love it, it's amazing for relieving stress, and it is great exercise. The left foot is what is bothering me the most - I'm starting to think I cracked something when I stepped on the piece of hose reel in the garage in the dark, barefoot. Kind of stupid, actually - but it prompted me to clean up the garage.

We've been studying the election in class lately, and today we had our pre-election debate. It was tremendous, completely enjoyable to watch, and I can't wait to see how the vote goes on Monday for Prime Minister of my classroom. Thankfully the Scrabble media attention seems to be quieting down a bit - I don't mind it, but they all seem to want to come at lunch, and there have been more than a couple of days in the last two weeks where I haven't eaten, or been as prepped as I like to be for afternoon classes.

Now, I can afford to miss a few meals, to be sure, but I find that whenever I do, I tend to eat a lot more than I should later. Not necessarily a good thing.

Ok, I'm gonna post this, then focus 100% attention on the bottom of the ninth. Go Jays!
