Feeling like a disaster has been averted....it took hours and hours and hours of work, but I did it. I got everything major that had to be done done. I've been up since four, and I've pretty much been busy all day, but I'm feeling a huge sense of accomplishment along with a huge weight off my shoulders. Sleep is overrated anyways, right? At any rate, it had to be done, and it is.
I've spent this evening working to set up a new system to make sure that I'm never ever again in the same boat. Oh, and television? I quit you. You suck anyways. Timewaster....
We actually thought we were going to make it through a whole week without Chloe getting sick. Should've known better, as the sniffles and extreme hoarseness have descended. Still in pretty good spirits, and at least we're getting her somewhat into a routine.
Cora has a messed up back paw, I think from the ice in the backyard. I'm trying not to let her out there too much, so she's getting lots of walks. I love walking down and looking at the lake in the darkness - although when we're below -10, you sure can't do it for long.
I've got a student teacher from Nipissing for six weeks - so far, so good. I got the package on my expectations today. In order to be compensated, I had to fill in an information sheet and send it by Feb 11. Hmm...isn't that today? Good timing on their part, for sure.
Enjoying a Hip kick right now - been marking math tests hooked up to Day for Night for the last hour or so...man, is Nautical Disaster just one of the greatest songs ever recorded, or is it just me? Ok, maybe Gimme Shelter is better...but not by too much.
Continuing to love the new laptop. With the end of 1st term, I officially retired the old Toshiba from active duty - although if it was a soldier, it was now the kind of soldier you keep in the office, the one that can't keep up with anyone else in the troop any more but you can't bear to send out to pasture either. Still - it gave five years of faithful, nearly flawless service....except for the speed, which just got worse and worse.
Spent $400 on brakes for the Honda - those who know more about cars than I seemed to feel that this was excessive. Starting to wonder at what point my trust in my mechanic is blind. Would they really start to screw me when I've been their customer for darn near 20 years? Man, that's a scary number when you think about it....
Really enjoyed the ski trip this week - the weather was fabulous, and the skiing was tremendous for Dagmar - groomed powder, no ice at all - made me think about getting into skiing a bit more frequently. My boots need replacing, however, and I just don't see room in the budget for buying of passes, etc. I'm taking Maya out on March Break for the first time - maybe if she likes it it can be justified....we'll see....
Ok, I've now reached 18 consecutive conscious hours on about 5 hours sleep....gonna try to hit the hay. How was this one for random rumblings?
